For more than 30 years, the Watershed Agricultural Council has worked on the ground to safeguard the NYC Watershed using science based, economically sound conservation strategies. Thanks to this work, the Catskill Mountains continue to supply over one billion gallons of clean drinking water every day to more than nine million New York City residents.
Protecting a farm means preserving a way of life. The Catskills’ rural character, its farms, forests, and cool mountain streams, has been cherished for generations. Through our agricultural conservation easements, landowners can permanently protect their land while preserving their right to farm and manage their forests.
